Welcome to Priorframe. These terms of service are the agreement between you and Star & Partners Ltd, the company that operates Priorframe. They explain what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you in return. Please read them with care. When you create an account, protect a photo, or otherwise use Priorframe, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. We have written them in plain language on purpose.

1. The service

Priorframe helps you prove that you published a photo first, and it watches the web for copies and derivatives of that photo. Here is how it works. When you protect a photo, we compute three values from it: a content hash, a perceptual fingerprint, and an image embedding. We record these values, together with a timestamp, in a registry. As a set, they form a durable record that the photo was in your hands at that moment.

After a photo is protected, we scan the public web on a best effort basis. When we find something that looks like a copy or an AI derivative, we send you an alert. We also give each protected photo a public verify page, so that anyone can check the record for themselves. If you want to act on a match, we can generate a takedown letter template for you to review and send.

You can use Priorframe through our Android app, distributed on Google Play, through our iOS app, distributed on the App Store, or through our web app at app.priorframe.com. The features and limits available to you depend on your plan.

2. Who can use Priorframe

You must be at least 16 years old to use Priorframe. You also need the legal capacity to enter into a contract. If you use Priorframe on behalf of a company or another organization, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for them. In that case, “you” means both you and that organization.

Priorframe is a tool for people who create or hold the rights to photos. It is not designed for children, and we do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 16. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we will close it.

3. Your account

To use most features, you need an account. Please give us accurate information when you register, and keep it current. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account, so keep your password and any access credentials private. Do not share them, and do not let anyone else use your account.

If you believe someone has reached your account without your permission, tell us promptly at support@priorframe.com. We may ask you to take steps to secure the account. We are not responsible for losses that follow from someone using your credentials before you tell us there is a problem.

4. Signing content you have the right to sign

This is the heart of Priorframe, so please read it closely. You may only protect and sign a photo if you own it, or you are authorized by the owner to sign it. When you protect a photo, you are telling us, and telling the public, that you hold the rights to it.

Do not make false claims of ownership. Signing a photo you do not have the right to sign is a serious misuse of the service. It can mislead others, and it can harm the true owner. If you make a false ownership claim, we may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without notice, and we may remove or annotate the affected records.

If someone tells us that a photo was signed by the wrong person, we may review the claim and take action, which can include correcting or removing the record.

5. The signed copy and its credential

When you protect an image, we give you back a signed copy of it. That copy carries C2PA Content Credentials embedded in the file. Content Credentials are a standard, tamper evident way to record where a file came from, and they travel with the file when you download or share it.

The embedded credential permanently records the name you chose at signing, the time you signed, and a link to the public record for the image. That information is part of the file, so anyone who has the signed copy can read it. Choose the name you sign with carefully, because it stays in the credential for that copy and cannot be changed afterward.

If the image you upload already carries provenance data, such as Content Credentials added by a camera or another tool, we preserve that data in the signed copy alongside the credential we add.

6. Content that is not allowed

You agree not to use Priorframe to sign, upload, or process any of the following:

  • Content that is illegal under the laws that apply to you or to us.
  • Content that sexually exploits or endangers minors. We report this kind of material to the authorities where the law requires it.
  • Content that infringes someone else’s intellectual property or other rights.
  • Malware, or any code or file designed to harm, disable, or gain improper access to a system.
  • Content signed in order to harass, threaten, defame, or impersonate another person.
  • Spam, or bulk or fraudulent registrations, including automated sign ups and attempts to game the registry.

This list is not exhaustive. If content or conduct is harmful, deceptive, or abusive, we may act on it even when it is not named here. We may remove content, and we may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

7. Screening, reporting, and record integrity

We take steps to keep the registry trustworthy. We may screen images automatically, and we may withhold a public record page from view. Anyone can report a public page to us, and a report may lead us to review the record and, where it is warranted, remove it.

To keep records meaningful, we refuse a new registration of a file that is identical to one already protected. Where an image is visually identical to another, or is already widely distributed, we may add a neutral annotation to its record to note that, without deciding who holds the rights.

8. Your work stays yours

You keep all intellectual property rights in the photos you protect. Priorframe does not claim ownership of your work, and protecting a photo does not transfer any rights to us.

To provide the service, we need your permission to handle your uploads. You grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to process the photos you submit, solely so that we can operate the service for you. This covers computing hashes, fingerprints, and embeddings, storing those values and your photo as needed, running monitoring across the web, and rendering the public verify page for each protected photo, which may display the photo or a version of it so that others can confirm the record.

This license exists only to run Priorframe for you. It ends when you delete a photo or close your account, except that we may keep the limited records needed to preserve the integrity of the registry and to meet our legal duties. We describe what survives termination in section 14.

9. Monitoring is best effort

We scan the public web to look for copies and derivatives of your protected photos. We do this on a best effort basis. The web is vast and always changing, and detection technology has real limits. We cannot promise that we will find every copy or every AI derivative, or that we will find any particular one.

Some copies live in places we cannot reach, such as private accounts, closed platforms, printed media, or messages we cannot see. Others may be altered enough to slip past detection. A quiet alert history does not mean your photo has not been copied. Please treat monitoring as a helpful signal, not a complete or guaranteed search.

10. Verification and AI results are signals, not verdicts

The verify pages, match alerts, and AI detection results that Priorframe produces are probabilistic signals. They reflect what our systems calculated from the data available to them. They are not legal determinations, and on their own they do not prove infringement, authorship, or that an image was made by AI.

A match may be a false positive, and a missed image may be a false negative. Confidence scores are estimates, not guarantees. Please use your own judgment, and where the stakes are high, seek professional advice before you rely on a result or act on it.

11. Takedown letters are templates, not legal advice

Priorframe can generate takedown letter templates to help you respond to a suspected copy. These templates are self help tools. You are responsible for reviewing each letter, filling in the facts, and deciding whether and how to send it.

If our integrity checks have flagged a record, generating its takedown letter requires you to affirm, under penalty of perjury, that you own the work or are authorized to act on the owner’s behalf. We may also hold a letter for manual review before we release it.

We are not a law firm, and we do not provide legal services or legal advice. Using Priorframe does not create a lawyer and client relationship. Our templates, help articles, and support messages are general information only. For advice about your specific situation, please consult a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction.

12. Plans, billing, and renewals

Priorframe offers two plans, each available monthly or yearly. Pro costs 9 dollars per month or 84 dollars per year. Studio costs 29 dollars per month or 290 dollars per year. Every plan and billing interval starts with a 14 day free trial. A card is required to start the trial, and you can cancel at any time before the trial ends and pay nothing. Before we make the first charge at the end of a free trial, we send you a reminder by email, three days ahead. If you continue, billing starts on day 15. Each customer may use one free trial. Each plan gives you a different set of features and limits, which we describe in the app.

How you pay depends on where you buy. If you subscribe through our web app, Stripe processes your payment. If you subscribe through the Android app, Google Play billing processes your payment. The iOS app does not sell subscriptions; if you use Priorframe on iOS, you subscribe through our web app. By subscribing, you also agree to the terms of the payment provider that handles your purchase.

Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing interval, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. Each renewal charges the price of your plan for the interval ahead. You can change your plan or billing interval at any time, and the change takes effect immediately. We do not charge you at the moment you switch. Instead, any amount you owe or any credit due for the change appears on your next invoice. If you change plans during a free trial, your original trial end date does not change. If we change the price of a plan, we will give you notice before the new price applies to you, and you can cancel if you do not want to continue.

Refunds depend on where you bought your subscription. For purchases made in the Android app, refunds follow Google Play store policy. For purchases made on the web through Stripe, refunds follow Stripe’s terms and the refund policy we state at checkout or in our help center. Taxes may apply to your purchase, depending on where you live.

13. API access

Our API is available on the Studio plan. Your API keys are confidential and tied to your account. Keep them secret, do not share them, and do not let anyone else use them. You are responsible for activity that happens under your keys.

API use is subject to the quotas and rate limits of your plan. We may throttle or revoke keys that we believe are being misused, that put the stability of the service at risk, or that break these terms.

The public record lookup is different. It needs no key and no account, and anyone may use it to check a public record, subject to reasonable rate limits.

14. Cancellation and termination

You can cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation stops the next renewal. Your paid plan stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then it does not renew. To cancel a subscription bought in the Android app, use Google Play. To cancel a subscription bought on the web, use your account settings or Stripe as we describe in the app. You can also close your account entirely at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you break these terms, if you misuse the service, if we are required to by law, or if keeping the account open would create real risk for other people or for us. Where it is reasonable and lawful, we will give you notice and a chance to put things right first. For serious matters, such as a false ownership claim or illegal content, we may act immediately.

When your account ends, your right to use the service stops. We will delete or de-identify your data within a reasonable time, except for the limited records we must keep to protect the integrity of the registry, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or meet legal duties. Public verify pages for photos you protected may be removed or retired. The parts of these terms that by their nature should outlast your account, such as ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity, will continue to apply.

15. Disclaimer of warranties

We work hard to make Priorframe useful and dependable, but we offer it as a tool, not a guarantee. Please read this section closely.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR FREE, OR SECURE, THAT MONITORING WILL FIND EVERY COPY OR DERIVATIVE, OR THAT ANY RESULT, SCORE, OR REGISTRY RECORD WILL BE ACCEPTED AS PROOF BY ANY COURT, PLATFORM, OR OTHER PARTY.

Some places do not allow certain warranties to be excluded. If that is where you live, the exclusions above apply to you only as far as the law allows, and you may keep rights that these terms cannot take away.

16. Limitation of liability

This section limits what we owe you if something goes wrong. Please read it closely.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Star & Partners Ltd AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. THIS INCLUDES ANY HARM THAT FOLLOWS FROM A COPY WE DID NOT DETECT, A RESULT THAT WAS WRONG, OR A REGISTRY RECORD THAT A THIRD PARTY DID NOT ACCEPT.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT THAT GAVE RISE TO THE CLAIM.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for our own fraud or gross negligence, or your mandatory rights as a consumer. If the law where you live does not allow some of these limits, they apply to you only as far as the law allows.

17. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Star & Partners Ltd and its owners, employees, and suppliers from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable costs, including legal fees, that arise out of your misuse of the service, your breach of these terms, a false ownership claim you make, or content you sign, upload, or process that harms someone else or breaks the law. We may take over the defense of any matter you are required to cover, and if we do, you agree to cooperate with us. This section does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own wrongdoing.

18. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. If you are a consumer, this choice of law does not take away the protections that the mandatory law of your home country gives you.

19. Resolving disputes

If you have a concern, we would like to hear about it first. Most problems can be solved quickly, and without formality. Before you start any formal proceeding, please contact us at support@priorframe.com and give us a fair chance to make things right. We will do the same for you. Please allow a reasonable period, such as thirty days, for us to work through the issue together.

If we cannot resolve the matter informally, it will be handled by the courts of England and Wales, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction. Nothing here removes any mandatory consumer rights you have, including the right to bring a claim in the courts of your home country when the law entitles you to do so.

20. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example when we add features, or when the law changes. When we make a material change, we will let you know before it takes effect, by a notice in the app, by email, or by another reasonable method. We will also update the effective date at the top of this page.

If you keep using Priorframe after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using the service and close your account before the change applies to you.
